Busting Out for Peachy Keen

Today was the first style event hosted by Atlanta Style Bloggers (ASB for short) and I had to take part in it! I always want to challenge myself when it comes to fashion and I love to gain insight as to how my fellow peers' creative juices are flowing. This appropriately named event Peachy Keen did just that...so far. I was challenged because I didn't own anything peach! I know I know...I'm a Georgia Peach without an ounce of peach in my closet or makeup bag. Goodwill Kennesaw saved me though! When I found this shirt, I kneeeew I had to do a lil color blocking! I have to say the skirt complemented the color of the shirt nicely.

Taking pictures today was a little hetic...I just started my dietetic internship at Life University (God is soooo good!) and we were in class all morning! By lunch I was itching to head outside, warm up, and take pictures. I changed my shoes (people are not really fashion minded here sooo I didn't want to stick out even more in heels, let alone snake print heels) and got to it! I almost fell in the bushes...and yup there were people there to see it all. They were supportive, I think cuz they smiled. Or maybe they were masking their laughter. Anywho, I had to hurry too because we only get 1 hour for lunch and I needed to get out of that heat.

Where I almost fell in the PRICKLY BUSH!

What I wore: Shirt-thrifted | Skirt- New York & Co (old) | Shoes-Steve Madden | Necklace & Ring- DIY's that I made! | Bangle- Target | Watch- Michael Kors

I really enjoyed the style event...and look forward to the many more that will be hosted! Keep bustin out loves!!

Inspiration Thursday

I just love the whole outfit! Her son is a cutie too!

That red lip is stellar with that white dress!

I have to say...Solange is making some waves in the fashion department! I would say she is one of my biggest fashion inspirations. Every time she steps out for an event she looks flawless. I love how she isn't scared to take fashion risks and her confidence shines through in all of her choices. I don't know if she gets help but BRAVO! Her style definitely keeps me on my toes...I like to be different and she keeps the creative juices flowing over this way! And then there's June Ambrose. I love her turbans...it really is because of her I started rocking them. Well, that, and the fact you just don't want to mess with your hair sometimes. So what a stylish way to cover up that bad hair day. lol! I saw these pics over at http://www.theybf.com/ my fav site for bossip (black gossip on celebrities) and thought I'd share. I'm on the hunt for both outfits, so you know that means thrifting!!

Jab Jab! No Mas Like Dis!

I went to Grenada (remember I told you I'm half Grenadian??) for Carnival Spicemas 2011 for a nice little week break. It was much needed...I'm getting ready to start my Dietetics internship so the relaxation before the program starts up was nice. I would love to say it was all fun and sunshine......

I'm wearing a thrifted dress (that I shortened), belt from Target, necklace from a antique store in SC

It definitely was fun but I was sick for three days and had motion sickness from the tiny vans Grenadians call a bus. Right. Then they love to stick 4 people into seats made for 2. I'll spare you the details as I'm sure you want to sleep soundly. It was sunshine until Carnival was over...then torrential downpour every day until we left. All that rain didn't even cool the island down. I'm not complaining though, the beaches are niiiiiceee.

What I'm wearing: a sarong as a dress, hat from Target, old earrings and bracelet

On the black sand beaches

H&M shorts, Zara top, NY&Co necklace belt sunglasses, Forever 21 hat, Steve Madden Sandals

The nutmeg! What Grenada is known for...Spice Island!

Concord Waterfalls...I really wanted to jump in from a rock!

My auntie and I. I'm wearing: a skirt from Envy Pretty Boutique, top from Forever 21, belt from Target

Carnival is non stop fun for 3 days...bands playing in the street shaking houses with the bass, masquerades, hot music, shows to be seen, and friendly people to share the experience with. Here's a lil peek at what I wore and what carnival looks like in Grenada.

The bands played the most popular songs...hence the title. Jab Jab. No mas like dis! is stuck in my head. Mas is short for masquerades. I really have no clue what a Jab Jab is...word on the streets is that it's a monster. So people cover themselves in used oil and run the streets until ridiculous hours of the morning. Good times.

The residents participating in Jab Jab...don't ask me what exactly it is though. No mas like dis!

I am looking forward to going again...especially when I'm feeling at my best! Oh, I didn't mention that I was sick during the actual festivities of Carnival?! Well..by the time I was feeling better Carnival was long gone....but at least I looked cute all week!

iDon't own an iPad 2 anymore

So sad story...I got my iPad 2 from Wally World [Walmart] and was excited cuz it was 3G and figured I could set it for Verizon. Oh how wrong I was...they only sell configurations for AT&T. I am a loyalist..so I was planning to stick with Verizon since I have my cellular service with them. Of course I found out I owned an AT&T iPad 2 aftwr setting it up and falling in love. You guessed it...I cut the cord and took it back. And that's how I came to own and un own an iPad 2. *sigh*

I'm getting an iPad 2

So loverlies! I am getting an iPad 2 today! I am super excited to go pick it up. I had to tell my parents it was for school, which it is, but I will using it for much more than that! I picked out a black one...not sure of all the configurations I want just yet. I'm always changing my mind at the last minute. For instance, I was picking out the color for my accent wall in my apartment and I was looking a cool colors, greys and blues. When my leasing agent came in and asked me what color I wanted, I blurted out a burnt redish color. Much to my surprise....I really don't know where the out burst came from but I love the color. Soooo, that is why I will not make any decisions until I get to the store. lol.

Ta ta for now!!
